True Talk Thursday-Two Sides of a Coin by Collins Adolf

         ‘I choose here,’ ‘I choose this side,’ Ade and Shola said simultaneously. Both pointing to a different side of the silver coin which was about to be tossed by their uncle, Bola. Before now, they had been involved in a little dispute over who should consume the only piece of meat in the soup, and when uncle Bola suggested they divide it into an equal share, ‘No oh!, the meat is too tiny for two persons,’
they grumbled. Just like the example above, life is like the two sides of a coin, it is undeniable that the warring parties both wish for a positive turnout by the time the coin finally hit the ground cum the decider. But, as we know, a coin either produces a HEAD or a TAIL. This is why I have decided to let you in on the illustrations below;
           In an academic environment like ours, The lecturer-student relationship. When the lecturer comes to class to lecture, there are two things involved: Is either you are physically present and be inattentive in class or you are away from school due to one reason or the other. If you are physically present and was inattentive, you are safe, but if you fall into the group of absentees, there are two things involved: either he gives a test to those present, due to his awareness that his lecture was becoming boring or he takes down the names of those present as continuous assessment with their usual threat ‘if you dare write anybody’s name that is not here, I will know,’ Shebi dem get all seeing eye?
           If you are among those who wrote the test, you are safe, but if you are among those who were not present, there are two things involved: For those whose excuses and pleas are acceptable you are safe, but those whose pleas fell on deaf ears like the seeds that fell on the rocky path and bore no fruit, there is only one thing involved…Bros go jack for exam with all your might.
          In the political circumference, we see The leader-and the governed relationship. Like in our great country Nigeria, filled with great people with great minds. If you are among the citizenry you are safe, but if you are in the political sphere as a politician, there are two things involved: it is either  you are a political analyst or you are a partisan politician, for the former you are safe, but for the latter, there are two things involved; it is either you are in the ruling administration or you are in the opposition, if you are in the ruling administration you are safe, but if you are in the opposition, there are two things involved: either you keenly corporate with them for the benefit and good of the country, or you act as a watch-dog to the ruling administration and hope that they see their faults and selflessly serve the common man whose thumb print has made it possible for them to be in those positions which they now occupy, if you corporate with them for the benefit and good of the country, you are safe, but if you act as a watch-dog to the ruling administration and hope that they see their faults and selflessly serve the common man, there are two things involved: either the masses see you the oppositions as “concerned states-men” or “Bad belle’s”. If the masses see you as “concerned states-men”, you are safe, but if the masses brand you a “Bad belle”, there is one thing involved…Oga politician your party might stay longer than you expect in the opposition stand.
             Over to the pitch, the sanctuary where a round leather object is served fresh and raw, The Football club-fans relationship. One of the most hilarious of all, is either you are the owner of the club or you are the manager of a club, if you are the owner of the club you are safe, but if you are the manager of the club, there are two things involved: either you win matches in whatever manner you can, insofar as you produce good results or you lose matches and receive backlashes, if you win matches in whatever manner you can, you are safe, if you receive backlashes there are two things involved: either you discover your mistakes and learn from them or the fans point out your mistakes for you, if you discover your mistakes yourself and learn from them you are safe, but if the fans point out your mistakes, there is just one thing involved…Coachi! Your job is on the line and you know it.
                Even our holy books, made mention of the possible two roads which a humans tread in life; the narrow way, which leads to salvation and the broad way which leads to damnation. So, what am trying to say in essence is that, as humans that we are, we should always strive to be on the safer side of the coin, while it is been tossed…Once again, my name is COLLINS ADOLF, and am just airing my views on THURSDAY TRUE TALK.
